Before upgrading to Windows 10
There are 7 versions of Windows 10; Home is for home PCs, Pro is for Power Users and Professional enviroments, Enterprise is
for Businesses, Education is for the academic market, Mobile and Mobile Enterprise are for tablets and smartphones. Each edition
will include all of the capabilities and features of the edition below it, and add additional features oriented towards their market
segments; for example, Pro adds additional networking and security features such as BitLocker, Device Guard, Windows Update
for Business, and the ability to join a domain. The remaining editions, Enterprise and Education, contain additional features aimed
towards business environments, and are only available through volume licensing.

Microsoft is offering the Windows 10 upgrade for Free until July 2016.  Windows 7/8.1 Enterprise and Windows RTs are not
eligible for the free upgrade. The free upgrade requires your PC to be running Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 installed or
Windows 8.1 (Windows 8 users must upgrade to 8.1) with the latest updates installed. Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate, and
Windows 8.1 Pro upgrades to Windows 10 Pro.  Your PC must also meet the system requirements to support Windows 10.
Windows Vista users can buy the Windows 10 upgrade for around $120 but must make sure the PC's Hardware will support
Windows 10 requirements.  I highly recommend you back up your data before upgrading to Windows 10.  I also recommend that
you visit your local computer store and check out the new PCs on display that have Windows 10 installed.  This will give you the
chance to see Windows 10 up close.  Do not be afraid to use the PC to navigate windows 10. They are on display for your
convience and be sure to ask any question you have about the new operating system.

Windows Media Center is no longer supported in Windows 10, however, for a limited time, if you upgrade to Windows 10 from
Windows 7 or Windows Vista that has Media Center installed, you will receive Windows DVD player as part of Windows Update.
Additionally, drivers for USB Floppy drives are no longer integrate into Windows and must be downloaded.  If Windows Live
Essentials is installed, the OneDrive application is replaced with the inbox version of OneDrive.

Parental controls no longer support browsers other than IE and Edge.  The ability to control browsing by a whitelist, the ability to
control local accounts, the ability to scan a machine for applications to allow and block, and the "Curfew" feature, where a parent
could specify allowed times by arbitrary 30 minute intervals, were removed.  There are reports that Windows 10 is not monitoring
3rd-party internet security / anti-virus programs other than Microsoft versions.  Users are getting notifications their security program
is not protecting the PC or has been disabled and want you to shop on Windows Store to find a compatible program.  Do not know
if this was intentional on Microsoft's part or a glitch in Windows 10 security and maintainence feature.

Microsoft stated Windows 10 will be treated as a 'Service' operating system and will be updated throughout the life of the
computer.  However, there are rumors that Microsoft only plans to support your computer for the same length as the OEM of the
computer, which can range 2 to 4 years.  Others say that Microsoft will support the PC as long as the drivers to support the
hardware are available in future upgrades.  Windows Update is fully automatic and no longer permits users to choose which
updates to install, when to install, or disable Windows Update.  Users can only choose whether their system will reboot
automatically to install updates when the system is inactive, or be notified to schedule a reboot.  Windows Update also uses a peer
to peer system for distributing updates; by default, users' bandwidth is used to distribute previously downloaded updates to other
users, in combination with Microsoft servers. Users can instead choose to only use peer-to-peer updates within their local area
network.
